Fucale and MacKinnon Named Mooseheads MVP

So this is my third post related to end of season awards in a week. Following their final home game of the season (let’s not dwell on the results of this game), the Mooseheads organization handed out some hardware.
The big award was split between two 16 year olds. Not surprisingly Nathan MacKinnon lived up to the hype that trumpeted his arrival in the league and was named co-MVP. MacKinnon currently sits at 76 points (franhise record for 16 y.o.) in 56 games with two games remaining on the schedule.
More surprising has been the play of Zach Fucale. Thrust into the starting role following injury to Anthony Terenzio, the 11th overall pick in last June draft didn’t look back. While there are a couple other rookie tenders above him in the standings both are older and have played significantly less than Fucale.
Here’s a rundown on the full list of awards:
MVP: Zach Fucale and Nathan MacKinnon
Top Rookie: Zach Fucale and Nathan MacKinnon
Top Defenceman: Konrad Abeltshauser
Most Improved: Sawyer Hannay
Top Defensive Forward: Brent Andrews
Unsung Hero Award: Cameron Critchlow
Hardest Working Player: Trey Lewis and Darcy Ashley
Sue Moore Memorial Fans’ Choice: Zach Fucale
Ross Thompson Award for academic/athletic achievement: Zach Fucale
Dedication and Comittment: Travis Randell
Sarah Morris Community Involvement: Konrad Abeltshauser
The Herd close out the season with games Friday and Sunday in Bathurst and Charlottetown. THey’ll then turn their attention to the playoffs where they have secured homeice advantage for the first round.
