2010 NHL Playoffs: Hawks v. Preds
Chicago Blackhawks (2) vs. Nashville Predators (7)
Chicago has managed to put together one of the best young teams this league has seen in a long time.
They’ve got dynamic young forwards that can put the puck in the net and a solid defense that plays a balanced style. They have blossomed sooner than some might have thought into an elite force in the League.
Nashville is a team that has flown largely under the radar. partly playing in the Western Conference and partly being in a non-traditional hockey market, there are a lot people out there that don’t know a lot about the Predators. I myself don’t claim to be an expert.
Nashville has a stable of talented young defensemen that blend defensive toughness with some offensive ability very well. They are anchored on the defensive side by one of the most underrated netminders in the league: Pekka Rinne. At 6’5″ and 207 lbs, Rinne moves very well for a man of his size and has performed well for Nashville. This may be the only area however that Nashville has an advantage.
Chicago is simply too talented and too deep. While they have question marks in goal, they have been able to overcome that weakness all year. I’ll give the Preds an outside chance to upset the Hawks, but think it is unlikely.
If I had to bet: Hawks in 6. They are just too good and I think they will running deep into these playoffs.
