Canada Falls to Cuba

logo for the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) World Baseball Challenge being held in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada July 7 - 18 2011Cuba’s national baseball team, ranked #1 in the world, defeated Team Canada 9-4 at the World Baseball Challenge. The Cubans scored eight runs in the seventh inning to break open a close ball game. The Cubans are now 4-0 while Canada drops to 2-1.

Dartmouth Moosehead Dry’s Chris Head went 1 for 4 with a single and base on balls. While teammates Joel Irvine, seeing his first action of the tournament, had a single in his only plate appearance, and Darren Doucette was hitless in three at bats.

Former Halifax Pelham Molson Canadian, Brandon Hunter, had a single in his only at bat.

Team Canada will next see action tonight against the Japan Toshiba Baseball team. Catch it live at 11:00 ATL @
