Christie Wins NSSBL Player of the Week

Player of the Week in the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League for the week ending September 11thThe Sydney Sooners’ third baseman, Cory Christie has had a tremendous season though the team has had it tough. His strong play has earned Christie the Cleve’s Source for Sports Player of the Week for this past week in the NSSBL.

Christie saved his best for the final Sooners’ game of the season, belting his fifth and sixth homeruns of the season while adding a single and driving in six, ensuring the Sydney squad a place in the league playoffs in 10-5 win over the Truro Bearcats.

Others considered for the award were Christie’s teammate, Justin Brewer, who picked up the win in the final game, Dartmouth’s Joel Irvine, Kentville’s Curtis Falls, and Halifax’s Mark Pelham.

The Playoff schedule has not been released but should be expected shortly. Dartmouth, Halifax, and Kentville will join the Sooners in the postseason.
