Rainmen Sign Ex-NBAers
On Monday, Levingston announced the signing of two former NBA players, Eddie Robinson and Rodney Buford, as well as the resigning of point guard Taliek Brown and center DeAndre Thomas.
Buford, who last played in the NBA for the New Jersey Nets in 2005, was originally a second round pick of the Miami Heat in 1999. He has spent time over the last few years playing in Europe including stops with well known franchises such as Panathinaikos BC and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Eddie Robinson grew up in Michigan and played his college ball at the University of Central Oklahoma. He was signed as free agent by the Charlotte Hornets in 1999. He parlayed a strong post-season with the Hornets into a five year deal with the Chicago Bulls. E-Rob never lived up to the promise that Jerry Krause saw and was later bought out of his contract. Since that time Robinson has had a couple cups of coffee in the D-League, but ntohing recently.
Levingston believes that these two new signings are a step toward making this year’s training camp the most competitive ever. October 7th Camp will open up and 19 players are expected to be in camp battling for the few jobs up for grabs.
