Cadorette, Penny and Allard Named Q League Stars of the Week

the offical logo of the the Quebec Major Junior Hockey LeaguePhilippe Cadorette, Ryan Penny and Frédéric Allard were named today the three stars of the week for September 29 to October 5, 2014.

The first star of the week goes to Baie-Comeau goaltender, Philippe Cadorette. In 2 road games, he had a perfect record of 2 wins, a goals against average of 1.92 and a save percentage of .944. Friday, against the Victoriaville Tigres, he stopped 31 shots and all three players in the shootout to help his team win the game 3-2. Against the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Saturday, the Drakkar started slowly with only 3 shots in the first period but Cadorette kept his team in the game stopping 15 of the 16 shots he faced. He faced a total of 40 shots and the Drakkar came back to win the game 3-2.

Ryan Penny, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies forward, is the second star of the week. In 3 road games, he scored 6 goals on 16 shots, and won 55% of his face-offs. He scored the first goal of the game on Friday, which became the game winning goal since his team won 5-0 over the Halifax Mooseheads. Sunday against the Charlottetown Islanders he got a hat trick in another 7-0 shutout win. He now has 10 goals this season bringing his total to 13 points.

Frédéric Allard, Chicoutimi Saguenéens defensemen, is the third star of the week. He collected 5 points in 2 games which helped his team get 3 points out of a possibility of 4. In Gatineau, on Friday, he scored his first goal of the season and added 2 assists to help his team win 5-2 over the Olympiques. He added 2 more assists on Sunday against the Quebec Remparts despite his team’s 5-4 loss in overtime.
